Our aim is to build a network of volunteers to partner our multidisciplinary team of doctors and nurses to add life to the children’s remaining days. We hope to emphasize the spirit of giving and sharing through this volunteer program, a core belief at Rachel House.

We currently need volunteers for the positions listed below. To apply, please help us complete this form. Unless specified otherwise, we prefer to welcome volunteers for a minimum of three months to ensure sustainability and good relationships with patients, family members, and other stakeholders.

 

1. Translator and/or Interpreter

Responsibilities:

  1. To translate palliative care-related teaching materials from English to Indonesian
  2. To interpret from and to English and Indonesian for foreign teachers during workshops, seminars, and other training programs

Requirements:

  1. Good command of verbal and written English
  2. Good command of verbal and written Indonesian
  3. Knowledge of medical terms is desirable

 

2. Photographer and/or Videographer

Responsibilities:

  1. To document Rachel House’s activities in photos and videos
  2. To edit and collate photos and videos for promotional purposes

Requirements:

  1. Experience and skills in photography, videography, and editing
  2. Commitment to principles of child protection
  3. Impeccable skills in producing photos and/or videos that show subjects in a respectful and dignified manner

 

3. Event Organiser

Responsibilities:

  1. To support Rachel House’s team in running palliative care workshops and seminars (e.g. setting up venue and equipment, taking minutes, carrying out administrative tasks)

Requirements:

  1. Experience in organising events
  2. Ability to complete tasks in a detailed, organised, and efficient manner

 

4. Database and Library Admin

Responsibilities:

  1. To catalogue Rachel House’s books, journals, and other reading materials
  2. To catalogue and manage Rachel House’s program documentation (e.g. photos, videos, audio recordings)

Requirements:

  1. Proficiency in MS Office and Windows
  2. Ability to complete tasks in a detailed, organised, and efficient manner

 

5. Copywriter and/or Editor

Responsibilities:

  1. To create written content of Rachel House’s website, blog, social media, and other collateral materials
  2. To write stories of Rachel House’s activities (e.g. patient care, training programs)
  3. To proofread and edit content of Rachel House’s collateral materials

Requirements:

  1. Good command of verbal and written English
  2. Good command of verbal and written Indonesian
  3. Experience and skills in copywriting and editing
  4. Educational background in communications, journalism, English or Indonesian literature, or other relevant discipline is desirable

 

6. Public Relations and Communications Volunteer

Responsibilities:

  1. To build and manage relationships with stakeholders and the media
  2. To create, curate, and manage content of Rachel House’s website, blog, and social media

Requirements:

  1. Educational background in communications, public relations, journalism, or other relevant discipline
  2. Strong technical skills and experience in social media and online communication
  3. Strong skills and experience in networking with media
  4. Good command of verbal and written English
  5. Good command of verbal and written Indonesian

 

7. Graphic Designer

Responsibilities:

  1. To develop graphics and layouts for social media content, brochures, and other collateral materials

Requirements:

  1. Educational background in graphic design or other relevant discipline
  2. Strong technical skills and experience in graphic design
  3. Fluency in using common design and illustration software (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator)

 

8. Psychologist

Responsibilities:

  1. To conduct clinical assessment of patients’ and/or family members’ psychological and emotional needs
  2. To plan and provide psychological and emotional support according to the needs of patients and/or family members

Requirements:

  1. License and certification in clinical psychology or other relevant discipline
  2. Good understanding of and strong commitment to the principles of palliative care
  3. Excellent skills in therapeutic communication with children and adults
  4. Experience caring for patients and families facing life-threatening illnesses is desirable
  5. Commitment to volunteer for a minimum of 6 months

 

9. Patient and Family Support Volunteer

Responsibilities:

  1. To provide therapeutic companionship such as artistic activities, musical activities, storytelling, and tutoring
  2. To provide respite for caregivers, help with errands, and/or transportation to appointments

Requirements:

  1. Good understanding of and strong commitment to the principles of palliative care
  2. Excellent skills in therapeutic communication with children and adults
  3. Commitment to volunteer for a minimum of 6 months
