Have you always wanted to run a marathon, climb a mountain, compete in a triathlon, or to hold a fun event to celebrate your birthday or another occasion? Then why not combine your amazing feat or awesome event with a fundraising campaign to support the children living with serious and life-limiting illnesses that we care for at Rachel House?
At Rachel House, we provide specialised medical care (palliative care) for children in marginalised communities across greater Jakarta living with serious and life-limiting illnesses. Day-in day-out, our nurses cross this sprawling city and its satellites (total population 30 million people) to provide care for children in desperate need in the comfort of their own homes. Our nurses are supported by our community volunteers, whom we have trained to provide practical support to families in need, and by the medical professionals in hospitals and primary health clinics who have been trained in children’s palliative care.
We are immensely proud of the work that we have undertaken. Yet we realise there is still so much more left to be done. It is estimated that there are still up to 700,000 children living with serious illnesses or are in pain across Indonesia, but less than one per cent currently have access to palliative care supports and services.
Will you Make Every Step Count?
Whether you are an individual or a group, you can contribute by fundraising for the children we care for, in any way you like, based on
your own passions and interests: you might be a sports enthusiast, or active in club/community; or you love to cook or to host events – whatever it is, you can always help support the children we care for at Rachel House!

Here are some ideas and testimonials from people that have worked with us in the past.
1.Conquer the nature off your bucket list
Charmie Hamami – summitted Mt Kinabalu, Malaysia
“I fell in love with Rachel House’s mission of helping children who are diagnosed with serious illnesses to live with the joy and dignity that every child deserves”
2.Break your own limit in a sporting challenge
Notariza Taher – Berlin Marathon
“I have heard many heartbreaking stories and seen with my own eyes and heart, the dedication of Rachel House’s nurses to help each child live with the joy and dignity they deserve, even when tomorrow may never come. So I dedicated my first marathon to the brave little patients at Rachel House. I know that their courage and resilience will give me the motivation I need when my feet got heavy
Fransisca Halijanto – Ironman Langkawai
“I wanted to dedicate my first ever race to the little heroes at Rachel House. They come from impoverished families and desperately need our help”
Arnaud Renard – Sentul Trail Run
“When blessed by a life teeming with opportunities and a healthy condition, it feels important to give back to those less fortunate, and those who have dedicated their life to support them. That’s what I had felt when exposed to Rachel House children and nurses in Jakarta. While attempting to raise attention and support through a great running adventure which I had to overcome in Sentul, I know it only enable so much, but the organisation and nurses ultimately deserve all the praise for their selfless work and for the smile they bring to the children they care for. “
3.Holding an Event with your Favourite Community
Clarine Karyadi – Birthday Charity Ride
“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years”
